Use of WordPress, YouTube … and AI
Let AI do some of your site’s work for you, like maintenance, blogging and social media. Chances are, your competitors are. and if they aren’t, they should be. While there is a fear of obsolescence, and losing control of AI, discourse often focuses on worst-case scenarios, algorithmic bias, and rogue systems out-competing humanity — or worse yet, posing an existential threat. But alas, it can also be flawed.
Take the pledge: I will not completely replace my writing with AI slop.
It is easy enough to dismiss use of AI, but in the long-term, this is likely a mistake competitively. I am here to help you make use of it, and will be using YouTube as a way to broadcast all applicable information to those who need it. I am an instructor with several years of experience, and a Provincial Instructor Diploma. You can view my teaching qualifications here.
Technology changes — and businesses that depend upon online technology have to change along with it. Let’s face it: AI and LLMs are not perfect, and neither are we. Just the other day, AI gave me a blog that was far too long and poorly organized paragraph-wise.
Use of AI as An Assistant
Use of AI and large language models (LLMs) have become difficult to ignore when it comes to working with online technology. Your competitors are likely using these technologies too, and they are likely using YouTube as a source of information and instruction. Through ARC Web Instruction, you can learn how to make use of these technologies yourself. But always keep in mind one thing: Any use of AI must be supervised and tested.
Whether you have a business or not, my goal is to work together with you to improve your online presence while making use of emerging technology where it actually makes sense. It might think that what it generated is OK. Never take what it gives you at face value.
Use of WordPress: Then and Now
Although I have used WordPress many times, and taught it to peers in 2015, I have never really looked deeply under the hood until recently. It is a Content Management System (CMS) with many layers to it, and I am recognizing things within WordPress that relate directly to my training at BCIT. Today, I think that businesses should have a website in order to talk about their area of interest — or area of focus business-wise.
Compared to when I taught it in 2015, a WordPress website is not necessarily something that is built, “released”, and then forgotten about. It may require maintenance, correction, repair, updating, SEO, multimedia integration or changes as a business evolves. A website — and even WordPress itself — needs ongoing attention, and I believe that AI can help, so long as what it generates is tested before going live.
It is important to consider the technology that supports a topic — as well as the images, text and other media that accompany it. This is true whether you run a business or not. In this regard, use of SEO is important. Your competitors may already be using it, as well as AI.
You Are In Control
I believe that people are more capable than what they give themselves credit for. As an instructor, I know that learning is a lifelong process. As shown on my resume, I never really stopped learning, at least with respect to technology. As shown in my portfolio, resume and qualifications, I have considerably more experience and training to draw upon now than when I ran ARC Web Design.
If you would like to arrange an online meeting to discuss your options, visit wpsolutions.ca, and let’s discuss your options. You can also visit my YouTube channel once it goes live. Today, people access content from multiple devices, and that includes even their TV; large scale output is just as important as mobile content. Do you have a YouTube channel? If you are a business, you can take advantage of this medium.
WordPress is a CMS that can handle both desktop and mobile.
