There is something satisfying about reaching a point where the road ahead becomes a little easier to see. Hopefully, I will be able to help you along in your journey and save you some money by cutting down your expenses for things like software installation, maintenance, and even promotion. The aim is to make you as independent as possible — and cut out the middleman; no more waiting for design changes. … or even SEO.
Over the past several months, I have explored a number of different possibilities for my next chapter. Some involved long-standing personal interests. Others involved technology, content creation, video production, and artificial intelligence. Eventually, I began to see that these were not necessarily competing directions. They could instead become different parts of the same journey. I am here to support you.
Returning to the web
My formal education and much of my professional experience have been rooted in technology, particularly web design and development. My portfolio documents many of the projects I created over the years, while my experience with WordPress added another dimension to that work.
What has changed since I first entered the field is the technology surrounding it.
Websites are no longer simply collections of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and server-side code. Content management systems have made it easier for people to manage their own information, while AI is introducing new ways of creating, modifying, and organizing digital content.
Video has become another important part of how information is communicated.
Rather than seeing these as separate technologies, I increasingly see them as parts of the same larger environment.
Three pieces of the puzzle
At this point in my journey, three areas stand out:
* WordPress provides a practical environment for building and managing websites. * AI provides an expanding collection of tools that can assist with development, content creation, multimedia, and other aspects of digital work. * YouTube provides a means of communicating knowledge and demonstrating what can be done with those technologies.
The important part, however, is not the technology itself. It is what the technology makes possible.
A website can provide information, a video can demonstrate a process, a lesson can help someone understand a technology well enough to use it independently, and AI can assist with many of the steps in between. That combination fits surprisingly well with both my technical background and experience as an instructor.
From building websites to teaching others
Teaching has been another recurring part of my journey.
Over the years, I have taught various aspects of technology and communication, including web-related subjects. My experience teaching WordPress in 2015 was particularly interesting. in retrospect. because WordPress was still relatively a new territory for me at the time.
Today, I approach it from an entirely different perspective – as I have considerably more experience with web technologies, design, troubleshooting, and online instruction. I also have access to tools that simply did not exist when I first began working with WordPress. That creates an interesting opportunity. Instead of simply building something for someone, I can also explain how it works and help that person become more capable of managing it themselves. This is where online instruction and YouTube become particularly useful.
A lesson does not have to end when the meeting ends. A video can become a reference that someone can return to later. A series of lessons can become a learning path rather than a single isolated tutorial.
The Road Ahead
As this direction has become clearer, I have also realized that my websites do not all need to serve the same purpose: arcolq.com is my personal site, as well as location where my portfolio is, wpsolutions.ca is my WordPress business site, and arc-webinstr.com is where all my YouTube videos are listed. Keeping these purposes distinct allows each site to have its own identity without forcing everything into one place.
I do not expect this to be the end of any experimentation. There is a test site for that.
Technology continues to change, and I expect that AI, WordPress, video production, and web development will continue to evolve along with it. There will undoubtedly be new tools to learn and new pathways to venture down. Keep in mind, that I am here to support you; years ago I worked in both hardware and software support.
As we go down the technical road that is ahead, it is important to stay focused. One can build new skills in WordPress, AI, and even video production with YouTube, but it is sometimes easy to off course. My personal interests can remain part of who I am without necessarily having to become the centre of my professional identity. The road ahead is not necessarily about abandoning everything I have explored.
It is about bringing the useful pieces together — and seeing where they lead.
