Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in a search engine's "natural," or unpaid "organic" search results. Any loopholes in coverage can be supported by paid or pay-per-click adver- tising. PPC Advertising is targeted to weak SEO areas and may or may not pull in traffic. All of Google's services have to be used together properly.

Optimizing your site for Google (and other search engines) is a process influenced by the words in your site. Be aware, however that Google and other search engines ignore words like "a", "an", "and" and "the." Search engines will eventually stop read- ing a web page, so these stop/filter words merely take up space that only has mean- ing to users. ARC Web Design can work with you to determine your site's text and what keywords your competitors are using.

Filter words are common words (a, an, of, or, and, the) that search engines ignore during a search. Search engines filter out these words because using these words in a search query can slow down the retrieval of search results without improving accuracy.

Google counts the frequency of words on a page. One has to be careful not to practice keyword stuffing. You should avoid firms that use Black Hat SEO for it could get your site banned in search results. Many attempt to get ahead of the pack by making use of these online "steroids." (Your Olympic team will get disqualified, so to speak.)

I cannot guarantee what page your site will be ranked. If you purchase one of my SEO packages, it is my job to find ways to increase your ranking, and if desired, increase the amount of traffic your site is receiving. I keep track of search trends listed in sites such as Inside Search and determine what site areas can be changed to improve design as well as content. Rising through the ranks of Google's pages takes time. I spend most of my time devoted to Google itself.

In a US study of search trends, comScore found that Google accounted for 82% of the searches conducted (Yahoo: 6%). Results from the first few pages tend to generate the best results. It is necessary to submit a site to all the major search engines. An 18% share is user-defined searches is still significant and should not be ignmored. Take note of how users search for content related to your site. What are some of the phrases used? I can assist you with this when you buy one of my SEO packages.

Websites that are too static soon disappear from Google's radar. Periodically, content should be updated or changed. Google made over 500 changes to its search engine in 2011. You don't need to change your site as often as that, but it does need to change over time in order to climb Google's search listing. A site's ranking may even drop in this game of give and take. ARC Web Design will work with you to weather this Google "stock market" and adjust your SEO plan as needed.
